Is Baba Ramdev the Michael Moore of India? or Where is the Michael Moore of India?

I am a big fan of the US filmmaker Mr. Michael Moore and have seen all his documentaries most of his documentaries. What I love about him is his style of presentation, narration and the way he uses his small stories to finally bring out his agenda. His struggle for common people and relevant subject he chooses has given him a huge fan following and critics as well. However, anyone who has seen his movies could not be left unimpressed. His latest movie “Capitalism-A Love Affair” talks about the impact of rampant capitalism and lack of social responsibility by huge corporations.

I was wondering, where is the Michael Moore of India? The kind of challenges our country is facing everyday, the rampant inflation, the corrupt politicians, the failing law and order and the ever falling social structure and values, raises a valid question, what the %*$( are we doing about it?  Which filmmaker has what it takes to be like Michael Moore? Who has the power and the influence to move the public? Indian Film Industry churns out thousands of movies every year but where is the movie which can ask questions which Michael has asked from his government and people?

Baba Ramdev is raising voice against the black money hoarded by Indians in foreign banks but even he is far from disclosing any thing of matter yet but at least he is a sane voice in the midst of this deafening disco being played around us. Media is pushing filth down our throats everyday and is asking the wrong questions to the public. What was considered religious, patriotic and Indian is now orthodox. Has Ramdev got the pulse of Bharat in his hands? Does he have what it takes to remain sane and honest in the midst of this blinding storm of capitalism? Only time will tell but I will take my chances with him rather than trusting some random guy with a impressive family name who is an excellent marketer and nothing more. I call upon the Prakash Jhas, the Aamir Khans, the Raj Kumar Santoshis, the Madhur Bhandarkars and the likes of them to come forward and make one well researched, honest and down-to-earth movie about the filth around us and it doesn’t takes a genius to guess that success and the fame they will receive.

Even after Michael Moore has been talking about these problems for so long his people have only now started taking notice. How long will We the Indians take to open our eyes? I would have to quote the words of the immortal poet, Dushyant Kumar:

वो मुतमुइन हैं कि पत्थर पिघल नहीं सकता

मैं बेक़रार हूँ आवाज़ में असर के लिए…
